OVER THE COURSE OF A LIFETIME THIS WILL PREVENT :
I. The poor general health that can accompany chronic pain.
II. Tens of thousands of $$$$ spent by you and your insurance company on the following:
A. Needless surgeries to the neck, shoulder, back, TMJ, and gums; and the
abdominal and intestinal surgeries that result from taking strong irritating
medications daily.
B. Psychiatric or psychological care for the depression and fatigue resulting from
chronic pain.
C. Repeated chiropractic, physical therapy, and massage therapy visits.
D. Excessive amounts of medication:
1. Over-the-counter pain medications
2. Strong prescription medications:
a. pain medications
b. muscle relaxants
c. anti-anxiety
d. anti-depressants
3. The repeated antacids to calm the stomach from the strong medications
and stress due to chronic pain.
III. Huge costs to your personal and social life (loosing relationships, giving up
activities and sports you used to love, etc.)
IV. Having to drop out of school (unable to concentrate due to pain)
V. Job loss or being passed over for promotion due to moodiness and inability to
concentrate on the job.
VI. Loss of your support group. Those who love you and are around you daily
start believing what all the doctors are saying, "you can't cope, it's stress,
it's all in your head", instead of believing you that the pain is real.
VII. The effect on longevity is uncertain, but I doubt that it's positive in most
cases. Someone should do a study on it. I know it doesn't add to the
happiness and quality of life.
Don’t let any of this happen to you.
The Solution is here.
If you do have pain and the other symptoms listed above, this should be one of the first areas of the body examined, not the only one that is totally ignored!!! This should be part of every initial physical and dental examination. It must at least become part of every physician’s medical exam for patients suffering from any of the above symptoms! And it must become part of a brief symptom survey sheet filled out by every dental patient at every six month recall exam! Why? Because these people deserve to lead lives free of PAIN, and all the health, personal, and employment problems it brings with it. They are paying us to examine them fully, not partially. Malpractice insurance carriers state this field is going to be the next major area of malpractice claims, both medical and dental. Not because of treatment, but as in the case of periodontal disease from lack of diagnosis and referral! It's not going to be enough to say "our medical group or dental group doesn't treat this"; or "their HMO, PPO or medical plan doesn't cover this treatment so I didn't diagnose it"; or "it costs too much, and it's outside the plan"; or "I didn't want to lose the patient". Those decisions should be made by the patients who are suffering and deserve an answer. At the very least, they should be diagnosed and referred for treatment.
Physicians and dentists need to put themselves in the position of the patient. How would you feel if your wife or child had been suffering with almost daily headaches for 10, 20, or 30 years, most of their youthful life, and had gone undiagnosed, not due to a lack of seeking help on their part. Most of these patients have been seen by several physicians, internists, ENTs, neurologists, chiropractors, PTs, etc, and have been going to their dentist every six months, and no one has diagnosed them and told them about a treatment that could end their pain. One of our patients saw nine neurologists and was not diagnosed. That's a lot of needless pain and suffering, not to mention the expense of all the MRIs, Cat scans, other testing, surgeries, etc. Yet I see a number of patients every month who have suffered 30 years and more.
The good news is it's correctable without drugs or surgery, relative to the symptoms, in over 90% of the cases. By locating the triplane comfort position of the trigeminal nerve, we can eliminate the severe muscle spasms that develop in the head, neck and facial areas. The mind will tell the muscles to relax, and the trauma will be over. This procedure eliminates 80% or more of the severity and frequency of the symptoms in over 90% of the cases.
